ADOM 1.2.0 Prerelease 19 is now available… again for everyone

*** UPDATE: It seems that we botched again :-( All NotEye versions still have a problem. Jochen just contacted me and I do not yet have the details… I expect at least 24 hours to get this fixed. Sorry :-( :-(

The good news: ADOM 1.2.0 Prerelease 20 again will be available for everyone :-( ***

And it's not available for everyone because we want to devalue the prerelease access program (don't fear) but basically we botched up ADOM 1.2.0p18 and introduced a bug that could ruin your saved games. Shame on us but we try to improve ;-) Read on for the details…

ADOM 1.2.0 Prerelease 19 is available for the general public from our download site - as usual the huge size of the graphical version requires us to supply it via download sites and BitTorrent to keep the traffic costs acceptable. Read about the changes here.

Important: Save file formats are incompatible to prerelease 18 and before. If you want to continue playing games from that release you should make sure that you avoid situations in which the bugs 2432 and 2449 mentioned below in more detail occur. This basically means that you should not save your game while standing on a position that displays very long texts after restoring the game (see the bug reports for more details).

The release mostly became necessary to fix bugs 2432 and 2449 but the release adds some other niceties, too. Most important to mention is that the full screen mode now takes into account the desktop resolution (before it used the former window resolution). You can restore the old behavior by activating the NotEye menu (Ctrl-m, and then pressing r and m).

Enjoy the latest release… and see the picture below for some of the cool stuff you now can do with NotEye (the picture shows how the mini map is configured to display tiles and the actual game screen still uses ASCII… quite an original way of getting the best of both worlds ;-) ). Zeno continues to amaze me with his amazing NotEye work.

  2. Hi, playing on Linux Mint Xfce. Just upgraded to this new version, and now Noteye crashes when trying to configure graphical resolution (ctrl+m, then r). The error code in the terminal is below. Not sure if this is something I missed when updating the game, or what....

  3. Yes, this is a bug. It happens on OSX too, see the following issue: issue 2480

  4. The download page you link to is only showing pre18, not pre19. Or am I missing something?
