A Glowing Example

Actually, I mean the title literally. There's an example of how glows work in ADOM inside :)

But before we move on to some nasty (but cool-looking!) Steel Horrors and Molochs, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all Happy Easter from the entire ADOM team.

We hope you'll be able to get some time off, create amazing plans and fantasies, and find courage and dedication to make them happen. But just getting some time off will be great :) Happy Easter everyone!

I was looking for a suitable picture to mark the occasion...I know of a few Easter Eggs (haha) in the game, but I didn't want to spoil anything, so here's some bunnies instead. One seems kind of odd. Ah well...

...read on to check out the new glow animations :)

I've mentioned the transparency animation system a while ago. Thanks to Zeno's magic it's already in-game and working like a charm. Here's an example of it's key application:

Quite a few monsters recieved animated glows, most notably constructs such as golems, steel horrors and molochs (and will'o'wisps...and so on...). It's a small thing, but it makes me very happy ;)

Those are not the only things Zeno has been updating. We now have an "on hover" mouse targeting system for ranged combat, making mouse control easier for ranged classes.

That's it for this week, enjoy your time off (hopefully you have some :). We'll be back soon with more updates.

  5. That looks really really cool. I still wonder how possible make such a good game and every improvement make its only better.
I'm very enjoy that shiny, light ADOM tile graphics. I never approve style like diablo(for example) dark, gothic ect, real life already full of violence, dark and evil things and i don't wish to see the same in games.
Monsters, items on ground and everything else painted indeed very nice and animations, glowings make it even better.
Thank you guys for your talented ideas and that great game you make! <3
